The port, which operates 24 hours a day and handles over 500 000 tons of containerisedgoods annually, relies on the heavy equipment always being functional – especially the gantry cranes which are used for loading and off-loading the vessels; without this, there can be unexpected and costly direct delays for the shipping and transport industries, not to mention the knock-on effects for the warehousing, sorting, wholesale, and retail industries and ultimately the end consumers.
Selected Supplies, in conjunction with Cummins Power, were able to provide a turnkey solution for the Port of Beira operators, Cornelder de Mozambique SA by installing specially designed switchgear and diesel-powered Cummins generators that are capable of providing a total of 8MW of prime, uninterruptible power.
